Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will furnish to the Pennsylvania Public Welfare Department a system capable of reviewing multiple aspects of Medicaid patient care through a five-year, $8.7 million contract.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will deploy a Medicaid Management review system that will help the state oversee care management, prior authorization and case management functions.

The system will generate cost savings, provide feedback to health care providers on specific claim and clinical issues that result in a recommendation for approval or denial and maximize efficiency and access to data for department employees.

In addition, department employees will use a Web interface to access patient-specific information to quickly and accurately process provider requests.

CaseNET of Waltham, Mass., will provide case management solutions for the project.

ACS provides IT and business processing outsourcing services to the commercial and government sectors.

The company, which has more than 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in fiscal 2006, ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
