Maximus Inc. will continue furnishing Medicaid care enrollment services to New York City and two nearby counties through a two-year, $73.7 million contract renewal. The new contract has three option years.

Under the contract, Maximus of Reston, Va., will continue handling enrollment services for as many as 2.1 million people in the city's five boroughs, as well as for Nassau and Suffolk counties through a program known as New York Medicaid Choice.

Specifically, the company operates a statewide help line in several languages, and conducts and an education and outreach program that includes a multilingual call center, direct mail educational literature, in-person presentations, partnerships with community-based organizations and a citywide media campaign.

In performing its contractual duties, the company works with the New York City Human Resources Administration, Health and Mental Hygiene Department and State Health Department, as well as the two counties' social services departments.

Maximus offers program management, consulting and IT services to state and local governments. The company has 5,200 employees and had annual sales of $647.5 million in fiscal 2005.
