Financial system upgrade in the cards for GSA

A financial management shared-services provider, the General Services Administration has upgraded its system to CGI's Group Inc.'s Momentum 6.1 as part of an $18 million deal.

Under the four-year contract, the Fairfax, Va., company also now is hosting GSA data at their data center.

"GSA has consolidated the services that support their SSP operation ? system integration, hosting, COTS software support and application support ? under a single provider, CGI Federal," said Andrew McLauchlin, an executive consultant for CGI Federal. "We are able to rapidly coordinate and streamline activities across both product and service functions to deliver outcomes rapidly for GSA and its customers."

GSA's new data center hosts information for itself and 40 agency customers to whom they provide financial-management services.

The agency initially implemented Momentum in late 2001 and early 2002, replacing a 30-year-old legacy system.

In other news, GSA named Gary Feit assistant commissioner for the Office of Customer Accounts and Research in the Federal Acquisition Service starting Dec. 24.

Feit will oversee FAS's enterprisewide approach to target customers and enhance customer relationships. Feit is charged with bringing the FAS message to GSA customers and managing a key initiative in the area of strategic sourcing.

Previously, Feit led the FAS project management office. For 10 years before that, he led the office of marketing in the Federal Supply Service and has also served as director of the FSS Automotive Center and as assistant regional administrator in GSA's Northeast Region.
