Air Force re-ups General Dynamics for intel system work

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems won a $7.4 million contract to continue integration support of the Air Force's Distributed Common Ground System.

The system is a worldwide, distributed, network-centric architecture for conducting collaborative intelligence operations. It provides both physical and electronic distribution of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data, processes and systems.

General Dynamics is maintaining activation and integration of new system sites, capabilities and technology upgrades. This will include systems and network engineering, configuration management, integrated scheduling and site support.

The company will perform the work at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., and at additional sites in the United States, Europe and Asia.

General Dynamics is supporting the Air Force's objective to evolve the system's configuration into a seamless, distributed "system of systems," with minimal disruptions to ongoing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations.

This award is the sixth and final option year of the contract, originally awarded in September 2001. Total contract value, including this extension, is $68.8 million.

General Dynamics leads an integration team that includes SRA International Inc., Zel Technologies, LLC and International Telephone & Telegraph. Raytheon Co. makes the system.
