Raytheon gains altitude with $113M U-2 systems deal
Raytheon Co. won a contract from the Air Force to continue delivering consolidated field support for the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft program.
Raytheon Co. won a $113 million contract from the Air Force to continue delivering consolidated field support for sensors, data links and ground systems for the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft program.
The company's services under the contract include pre-flight system checks, mission support during flights and post-mission problem analysis. Raytheon also will install new systems and system upgrades as part of its work.
The award is second option under the U-2 field support contract, which furnishes support at the Air Force's Distributed Common Ground Systems sites for all U-2 high altitude reconnaissance aircraft sensors, ground systems and data links.
The Distributed Common Ground Systems program is a worldwide network that physically and electronically distributes intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data, processes and systems.
Raytheon of Waltham, Mass., has 80,000 employees and had a 2005 revenue of $21.9 billion. The company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
