CACI lends hand to Defense secretary's office

CACI International Inc. won a $59.5 million contract to continue providing managed network services for the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), officials from the Arlington, Va. company announced.

The four-year contract expands both the size and scope of CACI's previous OSD efforts. The award continues CACI's support for transformation initiatives that consolidate information technology services and standardize services for classified and unclassified networks, including systems directly supporting homeland security and the war on terrorism.

The Office of the Secretary of Defense is the principal staff element of the secretary of Defense and has policy development, planning, resource management, fiscal and program evaluation responsibilities. It includes 17 separate components, each with differing information technology contracts and levels of support. CACI's role includes support for networks that range in function from business management to homeland security, disaster recovery and the war on terrorism.

With this award, CACI continues its network services support for five OSD components and provides overall enterprise architecture support.

CACI, which has about 10,100 employees and had fiscal 2005 revenue of $1.6 billion, ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list the largest federal IT contractors.
