Qwest dials up Idaho long-distance services deal

Qwest Communications International Inc. signed a contract worth about $3 million to deliver long-distance services to the State of Idaho for three years. The agreement carries two one-year service options.

As part of its long-distance service, Denver-based Qwest will deliver toll-free solutions and calling card services.

The company has furnished Idaho with local voice services for more than 100 years. More than 10,000 states, cities, counties and schools in the United States use Qwest's voice and data services.

Qwest has about 39,000 employees and reported 2005 revenue of about $13.9 billion, with a net loss of $779 million.

The company ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
