L-3 Communications Corp. named Michael Strianese as chief executive officer and president, four months after he was appointed interim CEO following the death of one of L-3's founders, Frank Lanza, in June 2006.
Strianese, who also serves as chief financial officer, has been with the company since it was founded in 1997.
"L-3 is an entrepreneurial company with a culture that invites new product ideas, solutions and opportunities as well as potential acquisitions from all levels ? executive and management team, engineers, business development personnel and customers," Robert Millard, L-3's nonexecutive chairman, said in a statement announcing the move. "Mike was part of the team that created that successful culture, and he is best suited to lead it forward."
L-3 has more than 62,000 employees and had estimated revenue of $12.4 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
