Partnering was foremost on the minds of the winners of the fourth annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards held Wednesday night.
"When a person is able to accomplish something special, it is a result of the people around them," said Linda Berdine, president and founder of G&B Solutions Inc. of McLean, Va. She won the award for executive of the year from a company with less than $75 million in revenue.
"I'm surrounded by an A-team at G&B," she said.
The GovCon awards, as they are known, are given each year by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce's Government Contractor Council, the Professional Services Council and Washington Technology. The event took place at the Ritz Carlton in McLean, Va.
In addition to Berdine's award, James O'Neill, president of Northrop Grumman Corp.'s IT division, was recognized as executive of the year in the more than $75 million in revenue category.
Companies were honored in four revenue categories as contractors of the year. They are:
- Oberon Associates Inc. of Manassas, Va., in the under $25 million category.
- JBS International Inc. of Silver Spring, Md., in the $25 million to $75 million category.
- Argon ST of Fairfax, Va., in the $75 million to $300 million category.
- Development Alternatives Inc. of Bethesda, Md., in the more than $300 million category.
