CACI to help tighten diplomatic security

CACI International Inc. won a task order for software development and program management services for the State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security. The award is for one year and one option year, and could be worth up to $12.4 million.

Under the contract, CACI of Arlington, Va., will continue its more than six years of support for the bureau. The work includes operations, maintenance and development of IT systems that let the State Department conduct worldwide security and law enforcement missions.

The task order was awarded under the Chief Information Officer-Solutions and Partners 2 Innovations contract vehicle.

The Bureau of Diplomatic Security provides a safe and secure environment for conducting U.S. foreign policy. The bureau designs and maintains security programs for every diplomatic mission in the world.

In the United States, the bureau investigates passport and visa fraud, conducts personnel security investigations, and protects the secretary of state and visiting high-ranking foreign dignitaries and officials.

The task order will let the bureau develop information systems that allow its personnel to get information quickly and efficiently to more effectively carry out their mission.

CACI, which has about 10,100 employees and had fiscal 2005 revenue of $1.6 billion,
ranks No. 13 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
