Army extends border-monitoring work with McQ

McQ Inc. won a $4.5 million contract extension from the Army to deliver advanced persistent surveillance sensors for monitoring borders, protecting forces and surveilling battlefields.

The Army awarded the company its previous two contracts for advanced technology sensors in December 2005 and March 2006.

Under those contracts, McQ furnished the Army with 400 OmniSense remote intrusion detection sensors for tracking people and vehicles. It also developed an enhanced remote intrusion sensor system for the Army Research Lab that added new features to the OmniSense product.

McQ of Fredricksburg, Va., is a privately owned company specializing in remote surveillance, security and environmental monitoring products for federal and state governments and the commercial sector.
