WebMethods buys service-oriented architecture firm

WebMethods Inc. has signed a $38 million definitive agreement to buy Infravio Inc., a privately held business integration and optimization software company. The deal is expected to close this month.

Infravio of Cupertino, Calif., offers service-oriented architecture registry and governance solutions. Service-oriented architecture governance enforces policies and procedures that determine how developers, IT staff and business people use a collection of services that communicate with each other.

In August, WebMethods acquired Cerebra Inc. of Carlsbad, Calif., a privately held company that develops metadata management software.

WebMethods of Fairfax, Va., supplies business integration to the world's largest corporations and government agencies. The company has more than 800 employees and had annual revenue of $208.8 million for the fiscal year that ended March 31.
