Rockwell Collins grabs IP Unwired
Rockwell Collins Inc. has acquired IP Unwired, a provider of high data rate modems and networking products and services for U.S. and international military customers.
Rockwell Collins Inc. has acquired IP Unwired, a provider of high data rate modems and networking products and services for U.S. and international military customers. The exact amount of the all-cash purchase was not disclosed.
The acquisition is designed to strengthen the Cedar Rapids, Iowa, company's tactical data link and network-centric offerings, said Clay Jones, Rockwell Collins' chairman, president and CEO.
"IP Unwired's capabilities and technologies help the connectivity that our military needs today, and align well with our continued growth in transformational defense communication," he said in a statement announcing the deal.
IP Unwired of Ottawa has about $3 million in annual sales. About 30 employees from the company are expected to join Rockwell Collins.
Rockwell Collins, which has about 17,000 employees and had annual sales of $3.5 billion in fiscal 2005, ranks No. 25 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
