DRS starts up Army vehicle monitoring deal

DRS Technologies Inc. will develop an information system for the Army to monitor maintenance of combat vehicles through a $10 million contract.

DRS of Parsippany, N.J., will develop a system capable of monitoring, recording and communicating the parameters for maintenance activities to an enterprise logistics network.

The solution includes decision-support tools to conduct logistics analysis for the Bradley fighting vehicles, Abrams main battle tanks and a family of medium tactical vehicles.

DRS is leading a project team that includes IBM Corp. and Raytheon Co. In addition, the company works in direct support of the vehicle prime contractors.

The Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Commanded in Rock Island, Ill., awarded the contract.

DRS supplies integrated products, service and support to the military departments and intelligence agencies.

The company, which has about 10,000 employees and had annual revenue of about $1.7 billion in fiscal 2006, ranks No. 28 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
