Apogen nabs IRS enforcement system deal

Apogen Technologies won a contract to furnish maintenance and support for a system that aggregates data across the Internal Revenue Service. The one-year contract could be worth $6 million if all four one-year options are exercised.

Under the contract, Apogen of McLean, Va., will maintain and support software releases and extract and analyze enforcement data for the Enforcement Revenue Information System.

The system will give IRS information about enforcement revenue and associated costs. It will track a case from start to finish, incorporating information from various enforcement functions in which the case is worked.

The system also lets IRS report revenue and cost information to the Treasury Department, Office of Management and Budget, General Accountability Office and Congress. It processes more than 3 billion transactions and generates more than 105 million summary records annually.

Apogen, which is a unit of QinetiQ North America Inc. of Fairfax, Va., ranks ranks No. 51 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list.
