Robbins-Gioia names new CEO

John Marselle, previously with Sun Microsystems Inc., has been named chief executive officer of Robbins-Gioia LLC.

John Marselle was named chief executive officer of Robbins-Gioia LLC, a provider of program management services based in Alexandria, Va.

Marselle is an advocate for the strategic use of IT to gain a competitive advantage. He will focus on driving growth and profitability at Robbins-Gioia, company officials said.

Marselle has 27 years of technology and business experience. He will focus his efforts on deepening the company's foothold in commercial markets including the financial services, manufacturing, and technology industries.

A member of Robbins-Gioia's board of directors, Marselle joins the company from Sun Microsystems Inc. where he led the organization's government division. Earlier in his career at Sun, Marselle served as vice president of the Americas, Sun's largest operating unit, with 5,000 employees and revenues of about $10 billion. Marselle also was president of Sun Microsystems Federal Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sun, from 1992 to 1998.
