Gestalt locks on Air Force simulation deal

Professional services firm Gestalt LLC won a three-year, $30 million contract from the Air Force to supply training and simulation technologies.

As part of the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Training Toolkit program, Gestalt of Camden, N.J., will develop advanced modeling and simulation technologies to help prepare soldiers and homeland security personnel for mission critical operations.

The program supports more than 25 training exercises annually around the world. The Air Force estimates that the program suite will save up to $60 million a day by using simulations instead of live aircraft training missions, Gestalt said.

"There has been a seismic shift in the way battles are being fought in the field, and the simulations that train our warfighters have to reflect that," Gestalt president and CEO Bill Loftus said in a statement announcing the deal.

In developing the program, Gestalt will use its Pathfinder methodology which will let the Air Force re-assess the program's direction at 30-day intervals.

Gestalt's contracting team includes Raytheon Co.; Solidus Technical Solutions Inc., Leominster, Mass.; and CACI International Inc., Arlington, Va.

Gestalt offers consulting services and technology solutions to the defense, energy and utility sectors. In addition to its headquarters, the company has nine other offices in the United States, as well as offices in Germany and Canada.
