CSC wins Maryland transportation management deal

Computer Sciences Corp. won a $44 million contract from the Maryland State Highway Administration to help upgrade its statewide transportation management system.

Computer Sciences Corp. won a $44 million contract from the Maryland State Highway Administration to help upgrade its statewide transportation management system. The five-year contract has five option years.

Under the contract, CSC of El Segundo, Calif., will supply systems integration, development testing and deployment across the state for the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team system, or Chart.

The state's current Chart system supports operation centers that monitor and manage traffic throughout Maryland.

CSC initially will help review of the State Highway Administration's business area architecture. The company also will develop Maryland's intelligent transportation system to make sure it meets current and future IT standards defined by the Federal Intelligent Transportation System committee.

CSC's team includes Enterprise Information Systems, Columbia, Md.; Skyline Network Engineering LLC, Eldersburg, Md.; and Televant Farradyne Inc., Rockville, Md.

Other teammates are Turnkey Technologies, Mount Airy, Md.; Web Traffic LLC of Crofton, Md.; and Blue Collar Objects LLC, Fairfax, Va.

CSC has about 78,000 employees and fiscal 2006 revenue of $14.6 billion. The company ranks No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal IT prime contractors.
