ACT plans gala for disabled vets

The American Council for Technology and its Industry Advisory Council are planning a charity gala for Sept. 9 at Washington's Union Station to raise money to build homes for disabled veterans and their families.
The American Council for Technology and its Industry Advisory Council are planning a charity gala for Sept. 9 at Washington's Union Station to raise money to build homes for disabled veterans and their families.
The event, which will benefit the group Homes for Our Troops, will be the first in what the IT organization plans to be an annual charity event.
ACT is an education and networking organization for government IT professionals and IAC is its affiliate for members from the private sector.
A team of government volunteers and IAC members, led by Steven Boutelle, the Army's CIO and ACT government chairman, and IAC Chairwoman Angela Drummond, CEO of SiloSmashers Inc. of Fairfax, Va., will plan the event.
The group expects 500 attendees for the black-tie event.
Homes for Our Troops builds homes at no cost to disabled veterans and their families. The group has completed eight projects in five states and has 12 ongoing projects in 10 states.
