DISA extends Verizon's network management deal

Verizon Communications Inc. won a one-year, $7.4 million contract extension from the Defense Information Systems Agency to supply bandwidth manager services to the agency's Defense Information Systems Network.

DISN is the Defense Department enterprise network that handles data, video and voice services.

Verizon Business, the company unit that serves federal government customers, will provide bandwidth managers to direct data communications, network security and network management.

The work falls under the DISN Switched/Bandwidth Management Continental U.S. contract, which the company has held since 1996.

Verizon of New York has about 250,000 employees and had annual revenue of $75.1 billion in fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 14 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
