USAID taps SRA for tech, advisory services

SRA International Inc. has won a contract that will enable it to assist the U.S. government as it lends a helping hand to developing countries around the globe.

The Fairfax, Va., technology services company won a five-year, $125 million contract to support the Office of Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade within the U.S. Agency for International Development.

SRA will support the office's efforts to establish a mechanism by which it can deliver information and communication technology support for development across the agency.

In the course of the project, the company will handle network design and implementation, application development and technology assessments. The company also will deliver as necessary strategic consulting, portfolio management, project design and technology transfer.

SRA's team includes more than 15 companies, consultants and universities. The contract was awarded by USAID as a blanket purchase agreement through the General Services Administration's Federal Supply Schedule.

The Office of Economic Growth, Agriculture and Trade provides technology and field support in economic growth, environment, engineering, energy and IT.

The company has gained considerable insights from past work with the program, said SRA President and CEO Renny DiPentima, in a statement announcing the award.

"The SRA team brings strong technical skills, international development expertise and extensive knowledge of the [office] mission to this contract," he said.

SRA, which has 4,900 employees and had annual sales of $881 million in fiscal 2005, ranks No. 27 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors. The 2006 list will be released May 15.
