Pennsylvania re-ups Dell for PC support

If you work for the state of Pennsylvania, chances are you use a computer from Dell Inc. For at least the next 12 months, the computer giant will continue to supply the Keystone State with computer hardware.

Dell signed a one-year contract with Pennsylvania worth up to $23 million to supply desktops, notebooks, monitors and related services. The 12-month contract is expected to save the state $8.2 million, the company said.

The state first contracted with Dell in 2004 to supply computer products and services, and has seen more than $38.2 million in annual savings in computer costs as compared to before 2004.

Dell offers volume pricing to Pennsylvania state agencies, state affiliated organizations and other groups that spend public funds to purchase technology products and services. The company also provides services, including lifecycle management for technology assets.

Dell of Round Rock, Texas, has about 65,200 employees and had annual revenue of $49.2 billion in fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 10 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
