Ciber wins Pa. Turnpike Commission ERP work

Ciber Inc. won a $58 million contract with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to transform the agency's outdated IT systems into a single, integrated, enterprise resource planning system.

Terms of the contract call for Ciber of Greenwood Village, Colo., to install an ERP system from SAP Public Services, Newton Square, Pa., as the second phase of a two-phase project. In the first phase, which was completed in March, Ciber assisted the commission in selecting an appropriate ERP software package and concluded an analysis of current IT systems.

The new ERP system will benefit the commission in finance, procurement, and asset, fleet and fund management, as well as in human resources and e-commerce, Ciber said. The system will allow for better business planning and faster responses to market shifts.

The commission currently has multiple stand-alone systems that rely on outdated technology with separate key pieces of historical and operational data across many platforms. This makes trend analysis and decision-making both difficult and time-consuming.

The commission has about 2,400 people and earns roughly $580 million in annual toll revenue. It operates a transportation route that sees more than 500,000 drivers a day, including over 531 miles of turnpike.

Ciber has about 8,000 employees and annual revenue of more than $950 million.
