Tyler secures Texas court software deal

Tyler Technologies Inc. won a three year, $12.4 million contract to provide court administration software to the Texas Conference of Urban Counties.

Under the contract, Tyler of Dallas will furnish urban county members of the conference with a license to use its Web-based Odyssey software. The licensing includes permission to use Odyssey software applications for courts and prosecutors.

Professional fees for implementation services, modifications, enhancements and maintenance will be paid to Tyler by the counties as they individually adopt the software.

The agreement gives urban county members access to other applications in Tyler's Odyssey suite, such as jail management and hot checks. Additional license, implementation and maintenance fees will apply for those products.

The contract is the largest single license fee in Tyler's history, company officials said.

The Texas Conference of Urban Counties is a nonprofit organization of 34 counties that represent 80 percent of Texas' population. Through the organization, these counties collaborate on programs and policies of mutual interest.

Tyler has roughly 1,400 employees and had annual sales of about $170 million in fiscal 2005, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
