Defense Department taps CSC for program support

Computer Sciences Corp. won a five-year, $38 million task order to provide program management and IT services to the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Program Analysis and Evaluation.

The contract follows a separate task order signed in 2000 under which CSC conducted program management support and IT services.

Under the new contract, CSC of El Segundo, Calif., will furnish the Program Analysis and Evaluation office with similar services, including program management, help-desk support and network operations. The company also will handle engineering, systems administration, asset management and acquisition services.

CSC, which is teamed with Advanced Systems Development Inc. of Arlington, Va., will perform the work at the Pentagon.

The Program Analysis and Evaluation office provides independent, analytical advice to the Secretary of Defense on all aspects of the defense program, including alternative weapon systems and force structures, development and evaluation of defense program alternatives, and cost-effectiveness of defense systems.

The office also performs analyses and offers advice in several related areas, such as military medical care, school systems for military dependents, IT and defense economics.

CSC has more than 80,000 employees and had annual revenue of $14.6 billion for fiscal 2005. The company ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors.
