Deal with Transportation expands CSC's scope of work

Technology assessments, concept development and architecture design are among the services Computer Sciences Corp. will provide for transportation and logistics management systems at the Transportation Department under a five-year, $178 million contract.
The new agreement follows and is incremental to a $191 million contract signed with the Transportation Department in August 2000, under which CSC provides IT support services at the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge, Mass.
CSC will continue that work under the contract. The center is part of the agency's Research and Innovative Technology Administration.
The new agreement calls for CSC also to perform testing and integration; systems training and maintenance; and operational support for transportation and logistics management information systems.
Teaming with CSC are ActioNet Inc., EG&G Technical Services Inc., TransCore ITS Inc. and Technical and Project Engineering LLC. Other team members are Arcon Corp., Battelle, Core Computer Group, Crown Consulting Inc., Intelligent Automation Inc., Sensis Corp., and Tibbs Information Systems Inc.
CSC of El Segundo, Calif., employs about 78,000 workers and had revenue of nearly $14.6 billion for the year ended April 1, 2005. The company is No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal contractors, ranked according to their prime IT contracting revenue.
