Raytheon, CSC to chase Army training support contract

Raytheon Co. and Computer Sciences Corp. have joined forces to compete for the Army's Warfighter Field Operations Customer Support program.

The companies have formed an organization called the Warrior Training Alliance to bid on the program. The alliance also includes Cubic Corp. of San Diego, which specializes in live- and virtual-combat training systems.

The two systems integrators have worked together on large, complex programs before, most notably supporting the Air Force Space Command's Eastern Range.

The Warrior Training Alliance was formed to offer the Army a diverse group of companies with experience delivering integrated solutions that address warfighters' needs. The companies said in a statement that they stay abreast of mission requirements, and believe they can offer functional enhancements and cost improvements through the integration of live, virtual and constructive training environments.

The purpose of the Warfighter Focus program, as it is called, is to provide the Army with lifecycle contractor support services for training and training devices worldwide. The Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation oversees Warfighter Focus.

Raytheon ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors, and CSC ranks No. 4 on the list.
