BearingPoint lands CDC informatics program management deal

BearingPoint Inc. will broaden its work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under a newly awarded contract.

The company will provide program management support for programs covering communications and alerting, distance learning architecture and international informatics.

BearingPoint's contract is with the National Center for Public Health Informatics, an organization within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The contract is worth $2.8 million for the initial nine months, with two annual options, and has a potential total value of $9.8 million if all options are exercised.

BearingPoint will provide program management for critical CDC health services programs, including geographical information systems, distance learning architecture, and countermeasures and response administration. The company also will provide communication and alerting capabilities and assistance with international informatics.

BearingPoint's public health experience includes working in a variety of capacities at the CDC. For example, the company won a contract in August to provide support to the Coordinating Office for Terrorism Preparedness and Emergency Response.
