IRS awards TIPSS-3 contracts

The IRS has awarded Total Information Processing Support Services-3 contracts to 21 vendors. The contracts are valued at up to $3 billion over five years.

TIPSS-3 is an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract for task orders to provide systems support, security and business services for the Treasury Department and its agencies.

TIPSS-2 contracts have been extended until Nov. 30, the IRS' National Procurement Office said in a notice last week.

Contractors will also provide strategic business services such as feasibility studies and tools for managing, tracking and reporting the implementation of large scale systems, as well as such system security services as enhancing security of data residing in computer files or during transmission, assessing IT risks relating to privacy, fraud and abuse, and the adequacy of internal controls.

The duration of the contract is one year, with four one-year options. Each contractor is guaranteed a minimum of $100,000 in work.

Among its provisions, the TIPSS-3 contract aims to craft new applications and introduce new technologies as they emerge, provide assistance in configuring and managing hardware, software and networks, and fulfill requirements on short notice to accelerate development.

The TIPSS-2 contract, which was valued at nearly $1 billion when it was awarded five years ago, includes Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. of McLean, Va., EDS Corp., IBM Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp. and Unisys Corp.
