Accenture tapped by DLA for data management work

Accenture Ltd. won a $6.3 million contract to provide IT support for the Defense Logistics Agency's Product Data Management Initiative.

Accenture Ltd. won a $6.3 million contract to provide IT support for the Defense Logistics Agency's Product Data Management Initiative.

The project is designed to replace the Defense Logistics Agency's existing repository for technical data.

The contract covers the first phase of the initiative, which includes document management services, business process reengineering, automation of key business processes, change management services, training and organizational design services.

The contract also calls for Accenture to design the business processes for the Defense Logistics Agency's technical and quality organization in support of aircraft launch and recovery equipment, critical safety items and individual repair parts ordering data.

Accenture will lead a change management program with the agency, government customers and industry. The company also will provide training for those participating in the initiative and will evaluate the technical and quality organizational structure in order to recommend business process reengineering improvements.

Accenture of Hamilton, Bermuda, ranks No. 23 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal prime contracting revenues. Accenture has more than 123,000 employees and annual sales of $15.5 billion.
