Comtech lands Army tracking system deal
Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp. has won a $12.7 million contract from the Army for its Movement Tracking System.
Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp. has won a $12.7 million contract from the Army for its Movement Tracking System, the company announced today.
The contract calls for Comtech Mobile of Germantown, Md., to supply its next-generation Model MT 2012 mobile satellite transceivers, which feature embedded radio-frequency identification and secure global positioning system capabilities, along with both rugged and control station computers and related field services.
The Model MT 2012 features an RFID module manufactured by Savi Technology Inc. of Sunnyvale, Calif. The contract will support ongoing MTS activities in Iraq, Kuwait and at selected Army bases in the United States.
Comtech Mobile, a provider of satellite-based packet data communication systems and location and messaging services, is a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., which is based in Melville, N.Y. The company has about 840 employees and annual sales of $307.9 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
