Telos tapped for DOD Telecom Center

Telos Corp. will announce Tuesday that is has won a three-year, $18 million contract to manage the Pentagon Telecommunications Center's IT and telecommunications infrastructure. The contract's value could reach $34 million, if all options are exercised.

Under the contract, Telos of Ashburn, Va., will provide support for the integration, operation and maintenance of the messaging systems operating at the Pentagon Telecommunications Center, including the Automated Message Handling System, provided by Xacta Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Telos. Telos will register new users on the messaging systems, operate and maintain the systems, and provide around-the-clock customer support.

Telos has provided similar support services to the Pentagon for the past two years. The contract was awarded through the Air Force Network-Centric Solutions contract, known as Netcents.

The Pentagon Telecommunications Center is the Army's nerve center in the Pentagon for operating and managing the critical IT infrastructure related to messaging. It provides integrated defense message system service for Army installations, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, military services' headquarters, White House, combat commanders, civil departments and agencies, U.S. allies and foreign embassies.

The system can securely send and track official communications for command and control electronic messaging, transmit messages from one organization to another, provide orders or direction receiving organizations and transmit officially recognized intelligence information.

Telos has provided IT solutions and services to the federal government for more than 30 years. The company has more than 400 employees and annual revenue of $116.7 million. It is No. 70 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors, ranked according to their IT revenue.
