DRS Technologies tapped by Army for tactical terminals

DRS Technologies Inc. won a $31 million contract to provide joint tactical terminals under the Army's Joint Tactical Terminal-Integrated Broadcast Service program, the company announced today. The contract may be worth $194 million over a five-year period.

Under the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, DRS of Parsippany, N.J., will deliver tactical terminals that will provide warfighters throughout the armed services with near real-time tactical intelligence and targeting information.

The contract was awarded by the Army's Communications and Electronics Command in Fort Monmouth, N.J. Product deliveries will begin in nine months.

The joint tactical terminals will support a worldwide network that supplies critical data to battlefield, air and maritime operations, command and decision centers, and other support networks. The terminals will serve as elements of the Distributed Common Ground System, which integrates various command, control, communications, computers and intelligence systems.

DRS Technologies has 6,000 employees and annual sales of $1 billion. The company ranks No. 75 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
