BearingPoint wins Afghanistan treasury support work

BearingPoint Inc. won a three-year, $6.9 million contract to provide support for treasury operations and implement efficient business processes in Afghanistan.

BearingPoint Inc. won a three-year, $6.9 million contract to provide support for treasury operations and implement efficient business processes in Afghanistan, the company announced today.

BearingPoint of McLean, Va., will help the finance ministry build its accounting and financial management capacity and manage incoming funding from international donors. Specifically, the company will strengthen the finance ministry's cash management capabilities and develop strategies for treasury processes and human resources management.

BearingPoint was first engaged by Afghanistan in 2002 to provide a benchmark for a fully functional financial management system. The scope of the current work includes managing the existing Afghan Financial Management Information System implemented by BearingPoint.

It also includes continuing the deployment of the system's functions to line ministries and provincial administrations, processing transactions, providing reporting support, reinforcing cash management capabilities and developing strategies for treasury processes and human resources management.

BearingPoint ranks No. 24 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of federal prime contractors, which measures federal IT contracting revenue.
