Raytheon wins incident command subcontract

Raytheon Co. has won a three-year, $6.6 million subcontract from iXP Corp. to help modernize the New York City Fire Department's incident command system, the company announced today.

Under the subcontract, Raytheon will help iXP of Princeton, N.J., design and develop a portable electronic command board system that will overhaul the fire department's manual command boards by using wireless technology.

The new system will enable the New York Fire Department to manage firefighters, equipment, emergency medical teams and other personnel during emergencies. It will provide additional functions, including wireless backhauling of command board information to the department's data center and forwarding of information to department headquarters, central storage and rugged field units.

The work is being done by Raytheon Information Solution along with the company's Homeland Security Strategic Business Area and its Integrated Defense Systems business.

Raytheon has 80,000 employees and annual sales of $20.2 billion. The company ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
