Fox launches consulting business

Neal Fox, who left the General Services Administration July 29 as assistant commissioner for acquisition at the Federal Supply Service, is launching his own consulting business.

The business will focus on advising companies on government contracting and general procurement issues, Fox said.

Though GSA's pending reorganization and the creation of the Federal Acquisition Service may have moved up Fox's decision to leave, he said they were not the reason why he left.

"I knew that I would be leaving for the private sector sometime soon," he said. "I felt it was not right to take a position in the new organization just to leave shortly thereafter."

Fox started his government career in 1976 when he joined the Air Force as a second lieutenant. He retired from the service in 2002 as a colonel and joined GSA as assistant commissioner for commercial acquisition. He managed the GSA schedules, GSA's governmentwide acquisition contracts and the SmartPay credit card program.
