AlphaInsight wins Coast Guard portal deal

AlphaInsight Corp. won a $4.4 million contract from the Coast Guard to provide IT support services for a Web portal solution for sharing maritime data, the company said this week.

Under the contract, AlphaInsight of Falls Church, Va., will design and develop portal applications and make improvements in the Maritime Information Global Network. Known as MagNet, the network shares maritime data among its constituents and supports Coast Guard missions in the areas of homeland security, national defense and maritime security.

The enhancements will improve intelligence within the operational and law enforcement elements of the Coast Guard, as well as help the branch share maritime information with other law-enforcement and intelligence agencies, the company said.

The MagNet system was put in place in part in response to Homeland Security Presidential Directive 13, which mandates that agencies involved in defense, homeland security and intelligence integrate all available maritime intelligence on a worldwide basis.

Specifically, AlphaInsight will gather and analyze portal user requirements, analyze new technology, conduct special studies and perform rapid prototyping, development, integration and implementation.

AlphaInsight provides IT solutions to the federal government in the areas of software development, network engineering and information security. Some of its federal clients are the Agriculture, Commerce, Defense Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, State and Transportation departments, the Army and the Air Force, the FBI and the Environmental Protection Agency.
