General Dynamics unit lands Dutch military communications deal

General Dynamics United Kingdom Ltd. won a $113.6 million contract from the Royal Netherlands Navy for the New Integrated Marines Communications and Information System program, the company said today.

The two-year program will provide the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps with a secure voice and data infrastructure that can support a range of network-enabled command, control, communications, computer and intelligence systems. General Dynamics also is rolling out the systems for the United Kingdom's armed forces under a separate contract.

The program, which replaces a variety of legacy systems, will provide interoperability between the Dutch and British forces as allies and is part of the U.K./Netherlands Amphibious Force. It also will be interoperable with systems used by other allied forces.

ITT Defense Ltd. and Harris Systems Ltd. are also supplying communications and command and control technologies for the contract.

Based in London, General Dynamics United Kingdom is a unit of General Dynamics Corp. of Falls Church, Va. The company employs approximately 70,100 employees worldwide and had 2004 revenue of $19.2 billion. It is No. 5 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list of prime government contractors.
