CSC wins Navy destroyer program management deal

Computer Sciences Corp. won a five-year, $71 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command to provide program management and ship systems engineering support for the Navy's DD(X) Destroyer Class Program Office, said company officials.

Under the task order contract, CSC of El Segundo, Calif., will provide business and financial solution implementation; acquisition and ship production analysis support; aviation, mission and human systems integration; and environmental, safety and health support.

DD(X) is the centerpiece of a family of ships that will deliver a range of combat capabilities. The mission of the DD(X) program is to provide the foundation for the next generation of naval surface combatants.

CSC has 79,000 employees and annual sales of $14.1 billion. The company ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
