California city re-ups ACS for IT outsourcing

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a one-year, $4 million contract extension from the city of Santa Clara, Calif., to continue providing outsourced business and information technology services, the company announced today. The agreement runs from July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006.

Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will manage the city's IT operations and provide a wide range of IT services, including data center management, help desk support, applications support network management and desktop support.

Santa Clara, which is located in Silicon Valley, has a population of about 109,000. In addition to IT outsourcing services, ACS also will provide various other consulting services to help the city continue efforts to align IT operations with business processes.

ACS is a provider of IT and business process outsourcing services to the government and commercial sectors. The company has more than 43,000 employees and annual sales of $4.1 billion, and ranked No. 51 on Washington Technology's 2005 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
