Morocco calls on Cogent for ID system

Cogent Systems Inc. was awarded a contract for about $34 million to install its Automated Fingerprint Identification System for a criminal and civil deployment supporting a national identification program in Morocco.

The contract consists of software and hardware, as well as services and maintenance that will extend beyond 2005.

"We are pleased to have received this new, large contract award," said Ming Hsieh, president and CEO of Cogent Systems. "This award is an example of how our technology and services can be used for civil initiatives such as national identification programs."

Cogent is in South Pasadena, Calif.
