Albuquerque calls on CompuDyne for public safety work

CompuDyne Corp. has won a $4.1 million contract from the city of Albuquerque, N.M., to provide an automated public safety solution, the company announced today.

Under the contract, CompuDyne Public Safety and Justice Inc. of Fremont, Calif., will provide a computer-aided dispatch and records-management system that would serve the city's police and fire departments.

The new computer-aided dispatch system would let dispatchers more efficiently respond to and manage citizens' requests for emergency services, according to the company.

The records-management system would consolidate records processing and criminal investigations for the Albuquerque Police and Bernalillo County Sheriff's departments, helping officers solve crimes and track suspects who almost invariably travel across city and county boundaries.

CompuDyne Public Safety and Justice Inc. is a unit of CompuDyne of Annapolis, Md. The company has more than 700 employees and annual sales of $142.8 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
