Ohio taps Accenture for ERP work

Accenture Ltd. has won a contract from the state of Ohio for a statewide enterprise resource planning solution to improve administrative functions, the company announced this week.

Under the contract, Accenture of Hamilton, Bermuda, will design and implement an ERP solution integrating the state's financial, human resources and payroll operations into a single system. The solution also will consolidate procurement, asset management and capital improvement operations.

The three and one-half year contract is valued at $84.7 million, said Gretchen Hull, a spokeswoman with the Ohio Department of Administrative Services.

Accenture's team includes IBM Corp., Advizex Technologies LLC, American Express Corp., AnswerThink Inc., CGI-AMS, Columbus State Community College, Hewlett-Packard Co., Information Control Corp., PeopleSoft Inc., Sogeti USA LLC, Blackwell Consulting Services Inc. and Diversified Systems Inc.

The project, which is known as the Ohio Administrative Knowledge System, is intended to streamline and modernize basic administrative functions for state agencies and their employees. The project is expected to save the state $251 million over five years through improved efficiencies, the state said.

Accenture, a provider of management consulting, technology services and outsourcing services, has more than 110,000 employees and annual sales of $13.6 billion.
