M/A-Com wins two Army mobile radio deals

M/A-Com Inc. has won contracts totaling $3.6 million to provide radio communications systems for two Army bases, the company announced today.

Under a $2.4 million contract, M/A-Com of Lowell, Mass., will provide Fort Sill in Oklahoma with a UHF Project 25 Internet Protocol trunked land mobile radio system. The contract was awarded by the Army CECOM Acquisition Center.

The company will provide turnkey services, including system engineering, project management and installation maintenance and training. The system will provide radio-frequency communications for more than 2,000 base personnel. Interoperability between the base and the surrounding first responders will be provided via M/A-Com's Network Switching Center.

Under a $1.2 million contract, M/A-Com will provide the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a similar system, including services. The system will provide radio-frequency communications for more than 1,500 base support personnel.

M/A-Com is a unit of Tyco Electronics Corp. of Harrisburg, Pa., which is a unit of Tyco International Corp. of Parsippany, N.J. The parent company has more than 258,000 employees and annual sales of $40.1 billion.
