CSC lands NASA support work

Computer Sciences Corp. won a contract to support the new NASA Shared Services Center at Stennis Space Center, Miss., said officials from the El Segundo, Calif., company.

CSC estimated the award, which is for five years and five one-year options, to be worth approximately $230 million if all options are exercised.

CSC will provide administrative, financial, human resources and procurement support services to 20,000 NASA employees, applicants, contractors and university partners.

Mississippi is contributing $23.7 million to the construction of a facility at Stennis. Construction is to begin in June and will be completed in October 2006.

For the contract, CSC estimated that 350 specialists with expertise in SAP finance, federal human resources, grant administration and information technology will work alongside NASA employees. CSC's Information Technology and Science Solutions division will manage the work at the Stennis.

Teaming with CSC is Lockheed Martin Information Technology of Seabrook, Md., along with 10 small or small disadvantaged firms performing the same administrative functions at other locations.

Lockheed Martin will offer finance support and some management services, as well as the interim facility at Stennis.

CSC is ranked No. 4 on Washington Technology' s 2005 Top 100 list of the largest government IT contractors.
