iGov gets $3 million order for IBM notebooks

The Air Force purchased 2,400 IBM ThinkPad notebooks from iGov.com as part of an initiative to provide technical and customer service support to more than 160 combat support IT systems, company officials said.

The purchase from the McLean, Va., company totaled $3 million, officials said. The Air Force HQ Operations and Sustainment Systems Group made the purchase as part of a blanket purchase agreement.

iGov was one of seven companies awarded the BPA in December 2004. The other six companies are Dell Inc., Gateway Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., Micron Technology Inc., NCS Technologies Inc. and Westwood Computer Corp., an iGov spokesperson said.

"As the IBM Personal Computing Division transitions to Lenovo, IBM will continue its commitment to offer government agencies its finest products and leadership in service and support through valuable reseller partnerships with organizations such as iGov," said Sammy Kinlaw, an IBM official.
