Former Utah CIO joins CGI-AMS

CGI-AMS of Fairfax, Va., has hired former Utah Chief Information Officer Val Oveson as vice president of strategic business development.

CGI-AMS of Fairfax, Va., has hired former Utah Chief Information Officer Val Oveson as vice president of strategic business development.

Oveson Dec. 31 resigned as CIO, a position he had held since January 2003. During his tenure, he developed and implemented the state's e-government strategy, adding 100 new Web-based government services. He also launched statewide projects to improve workflow and business practices.

During his 30 years of experience, he also was a managing director at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC, National Taxpayer Advocate with the Internal Revenue Service, a two-term Utah lieutenant governor and chairman of the Utah State Tax Commission.
