NYC transit authority taps Unisys for outsourcing
Unisys Corp. has won a $143 million contract from the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority for desktop and IT management and support services.
Unisys Corp. has won a seven-year, $143 million contract from the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority for desktop and IT management and support services, the company announced this week.
Unisys of Blue Bell, Pa., will provide desktop and IT management and support services for nearly 12,000 personal computers and 350 servers at the transit authority. It will offer IT infrastructure support services that include service-desk support, desk-side support, server management, asset management and tracking, equipment maintenance, dedicated program management and e-procurement services.
The services will let the transit authority streamline IT operations, enhance employee support and reduce IT costs, the company said.
The New York Metropolitan Transit Authority has about 48,000 employees in more than 20 departments and divisions. It comprises the New York City Transit Authority, MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Long Island Rail Road, Metro North Railroad and Long Island Bus System.
Unisys has more than 37,000 employees and annual sales of $5.8 billion. The company ranked at No. 28 on Washington Technology's 2004 Top 100 list, which measures federal contracting revenue.
