ICF Consulting picks up Synergy

ICF Consulting acquired Synergy Inc. this week in a move to enhance its services and mission-critical analytical and technology-based solutions for the Defense Department and other clients, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Washington-based Synergy is a privately held professional and technical services firm. It provides strategic planning, analysis and IT services in operations, command and control and logistics to the Defense Department and other federal and state agencies. The acquisition will add more than 200 employees and more than $25 million to ICF's government revenue.

The acquisition of Synergy "allows us to combine our strengths in information technology, homeland security, and human capital management with Synergy's topflight capabilities in defense and information technology," said Sudhakar Kesavan, chairman and chief executive officer of ICF.

Legg Mason Wood Walker Inc. was financial adviser to Synergy on the deal.

ICF is a privately held management, technology and policy consulting firm in Fairfax, Va., which employs more than 1,200 workers. It had revenue of $145 million in 2004, said Douglas Beck, ICF's senior vice president of corporate development.
