Integrated Biometric Technology LLC, Nashville, Tenn., won a two-year contract worth up to $75 million from the Transportation Security Administration to install a nationwide fingerprint network for truckers handling hazardous materials.

The Patriot Act requires an extensive background check on truck drivers who carry or want to get a hazardous material endorsement. The process requires drivers send a set of fingerprints to the FBI database in Clarksburg, W.Va., for a criminal history check.

Under the TSA contract, IBT will provide electronic fingerprinting services that will help truckers quickly complete the process.
